LORNE GOLDENBERG, BPHE, CSCS, CEP

Lorne brings extensive experience in the area of peak performance training with both professional and elite amateur athletes. He’s worked with several NHL teams as a Strength and Conditioning Coach including the Canadiens, the Panthers, the Senators, the Blues, the Blackhawks, the Nordiques and the Avalanche.  His expertise has also been utilized at the CFL, CIS and OHL levels over the past 25 years.

Lorne graduated from the University of Ottawa with an honours degree in Physical Education. Lorne is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and he’s also a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology

SYLVIE TETRAULT, B.Sc.Kin, CSCS, CPT, FMS

Sylvie has an extensive background in athletics including competitive figure skating, volleyball, soccer and rugby (Provincial Juniors and Varsity Rugby at The University of New Brunswick).  Sylvie has 6 years of experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Consultant and has worked with a wide variety of clients from elite athletes to those who’ve undergone extreme lifestyle changes.

Sylvie graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and went on to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through NSCA as well as completing CEs in fitness evaluations and post rehabilitation.

ALAN SELBY M.Kin, B.Sc.Kin, CSCS, CEP

Alan’s interest in Strength and Conditioning began as a love of all sports. In High School he competed in hockey, volleyball, golf, baseball, swimming and cross country and received such awards as Athlete of the Year. Fitness is Alan’s passion and he enjoys working with anyone who wants to take their personal fitness to the next level.

Alan completed his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at McMaster University and then his Masters in Exercise Physiology at the University of Calgary. He became a Certified Exercise Physiologist through CSEP and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S) through the NSCA.

CHRIS KORTE, B.Sc.Kin, CSCS, CEP

Chris has an extensive hockey career including playing Junior “A” in Markham before receiving a hockey scholarship to York University. After graduating from York he went on to play professional hockey in Germany. Chris has trained both male and female athletes at all levels including the NHL, AHL, NCAA, CFL, CIS and National Level. He spent last summer working for the Toronto Maple Leafs, assisting with the teams Strength and Conditioning workouts.

Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and went on to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, as well as a Certified Exercise Physiologist through CSEP.

ADRIAN VILACA, B.Sc.Kin, CSCS, CEP

Adrian has an extensive background in athletics and competed in a variety of including competitive hockey, lacrosse and football.  He wrestled for Lake Superior University and is currently an active competitor in mixed martial arts.  He has experience coaching athletes at a variety of levels from Junior, OHL, AHL, Europe and NHL.  He also spent a season as the head strength coach for LSSU’s Div. II Women’s Volleyball team.

Adrian graduated from Lake Superior State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and an Associates Degree in Health and Fitness. He then interned under strength coach Lorne Goldenberg before joining GRHPC.

COLBY HATHAWAY, M.Sc., B.Sc.Kin, CSCS, CEP

Growing up in New Brunswick, Colby competed in various sports and along the way began to build a passion for training.  Over the last 7 years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, Personal Trainer and Fitness Assessor at the annual NHL Draft Combine, Colby has developed a diverse background working with high-level athletes, Clients with general fitness goals and those with injury rehabilitation needs.  Currently, Colby is a Strength and Conditioning Coach in Canada’s National Beach Volleyball Program.

Colby has a Master’s Degree in Health Science with a Fitness Specialization from York University.  He has Undergraduate Degree from the University of New Brunswick in Science (Kinesiology) and also currently holds his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the NSCA and is a Certified Exercise Physiologist from CSEP.

DOUG DAVIDSON, B.Sc.Kin, BPHEH

photo(27)Doug has an extensive background in athletics including playing Varsity Rugby at Queen’s University where he won an OUA Championship. During his time at Queen’s he was a Strength and Conditioning intern working with male and female Varsity Athletes most notably Men’s Hockey, Football,  and Rugby. In 2013 Doug won inaugural Varsity Service Award for his contributions to the Queen’s Strength and Conditioning Program. In addition to his work at Queen’s Doug has also worked with several national and provincial level rugby players and spent the summer of 2012 interning at Cressey Performance in Hudson, Mass where he worked with various athletes including high school hockey players, NCAA baseball players and MLB Draftees.

Doug graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor in Physical and Health Education (Honours)

JOSH SHUFELT, Dipl. RSL, PTS

Josh has over 13 years of experience as a Personal Trainer and as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for elite athletes in Hockey, Football, Ringette and Brier Champion Curlers. Josh was a competitive bodybuilder and among his success placed 2nd as a middleweight in the 2008 Alberta Bodybuilding Championships. Josh played Junior “A” Hockey and later became the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Truro Bearcats when they won the Maritime Jr. “A” League Championship in 2005. In addition to his strong background training elite athletes, Josh has extensive experience training clients of all fitness levels and fitness goals.

Josh has a Diploma in Recreation and Sports Leadership from NSCC and is a Personal Training Specialist through CAN FIT PRO as well as being a National Level III Hockey and Football Coach.

TARA McKAY, High Performance Skating Coach

Power Skating and Skills Mechanics Expert, 15 years playing at highest level of women’ hockey in Canada including National Women’s Hockey League, NWHL Nationals ‘02, ‘03, ‘04, Regional Team Canada Camps, Certified Kinesiologist, Certified Exercise Physiologist, College level and Elementary level teaching experience, extensive experience instructing from grassroots to Pro.

Tara personally designs drills to improve a particular set of skills that are relevant to the player’s age and skill level. An expert on skating and hockey mechanics, Tara’s great passion for skating, hockey and teaching is easily shown when she is on the ice in her enthusiasm and positive motivation with the players.

Tara’s teaching methods have proven successful results for her students. Ensuring that the players are developed with proper mechanics/technique, at the appropriate pace and with appropriate skills being practised will push them to get to the next level in their development and will have a lasting effect on their performance.

  • 17 years hockey instructor experience, 8th year of Summer Camp Program
  • Playing experience in National Women’s Hockey League since its inception, 15 years playing at highest level of women’ hockey in Canada

STEPHANIE WAY, PTS, CYI, CPI

Stephanie comes from a strong athletic background and specializes in functional fitness with a deep respect for the human body / mind / spirit connection.  Her thirst for knowledge, constant skill upgrades and background in nutrition are some of the key strengths which make her an in-demand Yoga & Pilates Instructor and a successful Trainer.  Stephanie has trained many elite athletes including Ed Belfour, Chris Draper, Jillian Ferrari and the Canadian Women’s Olympic Hockey Team.

Stephanie holds a Hatha Yoga Certification, an Advanced Pilates Certification, Certified Personal Trainer Specialist, Level 1 Gyrotonic Expansion Certificate, Certificate in Holistic Nutrition, C.O.R.E. Certification and is completing her Essentials of Sport and Exercise Nutrition Certification.
