for our members and the community. Below is a list of services offered
by Fitness Institute, Clinic for Sport Medicine.
SPORT MEDICINE is a comprehensive and holistic discipline
that addresses health and wellness issues involving physical activity
and sport. Sport Medicine specialists are physicians who have acquired
expertise and certification in the care of active individuals. Many
Sports Medicine doctors have a background in Family Medicine, which
trains them to assess the whole patient, throughout all stages of life.
Particular areas of expertise include exercise prescription, injury
evaluation and treatment, disease prevention and treatment through
physical activity and health promotion through exercise. Sport Medicine
physicians may also have expertise in nutrition and lifestyle issues,
such as stress management. These skills often bridge the gap between
the Family Physician and the Orthopedic Surgeon or other specialists.
PHYSIOTHERAPY The heart of physiotherapy is in understanding
how and why movement and function take place. Physiotherapists analyze
the impact of injury, disease or disorder. They promote, restore and
prolong physical independence by enhancing a functional capacity of the
patient.
Physiotherapy is
the first contact, autonomous, client–focused health profession
dedicated to:
• Improving and maintaining functional independence and physical
performance,
• Preventing and managing pain, physical impairments, disabilities and
limits to participation,
• Promotes fitness, health and wellness.
CHIROPRACTIC practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to
health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment.
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of
the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of
these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often
to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to
back pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
ACTIVE RELEASE
TECHNIQUE (ARTŪ) is
patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system that treats problem with
muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain,
carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar
fascitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many
conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These
conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a
result of overused muscles, which change in three important ways:
• Acute conditions (pulls, tears, collisions, etc)
• Accumulation of small tears (micro-trauma)
• Not getting enough oxygen
MASSAGE THERAPY is the assessment and treatment of the soft
tissues and joints of the body. Treatment procedures aim to
rehabilitate, maintain or improve movement as well as reduce pain and
stress. Along with the hands on approach, massage therapy may also
include the use of exercises and the application of hot and cold
compresses.

NUTRITION
CONSULTING consists of a
detailed dietary analysis, consideration of goals and how that will
affect your performance and health. Based on this, the
naturopath/nutritionist will develop a supplement protocol if needed ,
general recommendations for dietary improvement, and if needed a sample
diet plan for a week. Our philosophy regarding nutrition is based on
the fact that proper consumption of foods and supplements will give you
the opportunity to accomplish your goals in life.
LOW INTENSITY
LASER THERAPY is the
application of light that accelerates healing by restoring normal cell
function. It jump-starts the body’s natural process by sending energy
into the muscles and joints that’s then transformed into biochemical
energy. LILT triggers the release of endorphins, morphine-like
substances that inhibit the sensation of pain. It also increases the
formation of new blood vessels. This is non-invasive, painless and
highly effective healing tool for children and adults.

FOR:
• Decreasing pain and inflammation
• Increasing cell production
• Safe as no radiation and no heat
ORTHOTICS
are designed to treat various biomechanical foot disorders and foot
pain. Prescription foot orthodics are custom made inserts for your
shoes designed to address various foot and lower body conditions. The
manufacturing and materials used vary based on patient needs,
activities and health factors. Orthodics are often prescribed to
accommodate various "wear and tear" foot conditions and soft tissue
degeneration. Foot orthodics can also assist in the care of lower body
conditions like back pain, diabetic ulcers and knee problems.
